The Journey Home

Free the Voice

Pagansim & Voice Gathering

Together with musician and composer Jonas Lorentzen !

At the first new moon of the dark half of the year, we cross a threshold.

A time for listening, remembering, and daring to embrace the cycle of death and rebirth.

Here, we gather to be brave and free the voice ♡.

Guest Facilitator Jonas Lorentzen

Nebala, former Heilung, The Northman

Jonas is a musician and voice practitioner known from Nebala and formerly Heilung, and for his work connected to The Northman, where he has explored traditional Nordic vocal expression.

In this retreat he shares grounded, practical voice work rooted in breath, resonance and presence, suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

“I was part of Jonas' workshop at Midgardsblot. I very much recommend it! He made a very safe and comfortable area for people to take part and find our voices, both our own and our communal voice.

He also gave room for it to be a conversation and let people share their thoughts which I find interesting.

Great for beginners and also some with more experience in this area.”

About the Gathering

Free the Voice is a four-day course held at the first new moon of the dark half of the year, during the Samhain / Álfablót period. This is a time traditionally associated with endings, ancestors, and the thinning of the veil between worlds. This pagan gathering is shaped as a journey inward, where voice becomes a tool for presence, courage, and connection.

Together with musician Jonas Loretzen, we explore the voice beyond performance. You do not need to “know how to sing.” The work is about sounding, listening, breathing, and daring to be heard. Through simple vocal practices, song circles, chant, ritual, silence, and reflection, we create a space where the voice can move freely, without pressure or expectation.

Alongside the voice work, the retreat includes meditation, workshops, ceremony, and time in nature. We move in rhythm with the season. There is space to rest, walk, write, sit by the fire, and integrate what arises. And you get the change to deepen your practice and learn more about our ancestral spiritual practices.

Free the Voice is for those who feel a pull toward the dark season, who sense that something wants to be expressed, released, or remembered. It is for those who are willing to be a little brave, to listen deeply, and to let their voice become a bridge between the inner world and the outer one.

Power of the Voice

Through his Voice Activation Workshops, Jonas guides people back to one of humanity’s oldest forms of connection: song. These workshops are not about performance or technique. They are about remembering what the voice truly is: a living instrument for connection, healing, and transformation.

We explore the body as a resonant vessel, the breath as the bridge between worlds, and song as a way to awaken a deeper sense of self. Participants are invited to rediscover the natural power of their own voice: to listen, to release, and to find harmony together in sound.

Drawing from ancient singing traditions and modern understandings of physiology and psychology, the workshops offer a space that is both grounding and uplifting, a reminder that song is medicine, and that we heal not alone, but together.

Intention

This retreat takes place in the dark half of the year, in the time of Álfablót, when the hidden world feels close.

Sound is a way of bringing the inner vibration of our being out into the open.
Our truth, our longing, our grief, our courage.
Letting it move through the dark.

Here, the voice is not about singing well.
It is about daring to be heard.
About letting something real leave the body.

In this season of shadows and thresholds, we gather to be brave.
To let our sound walk where words cannot.
And to listen for what answers back.

Wild Gatherings for Wild Souls

At RE WILD we follow the spiral of the year, the solstices and equinoxes, the dance of the moon, and the old Nordic and Celtic calendar. We offer a guiding hand on your way back to your place in nature, your re-wilding journey.

Following the road from our ancient Indo-European roots, we walk the path from yoga into deep connection with our own soil through European spirituality. Our approach is deeply animistic; we honour the nature beings, the old gods, and the universe that is within us and all. We work with ritual and ceremony, the sacred drum, and the secrets buried in our spine to free ourselves and come home.

We welcome you to journey with us.

Ellen 2.jpg

About Ellen

Ellen is a teacher, guide, and facilitator with a deep love for mythology, song, nature, and the old stories of Europe.

Through RE WILD, she creates spaces rooted in the lunisolar rhythms of the year, Norse and Celtic pagan traditions, and the wider tapestry of Indo‑European spirituality.

Her work brings together ritual, song, storytelling, and connection to the living world.

Living between science and mystery, she has come to feel most at home in the borderlands, where old traditions still have something to teach us today.

About Jonas

Jonas Lorentzen is a Danish musician, composer, and voice facilitator, and the creative force behind Nebala. His work draws on ancient vocal traditions and global spiritual ideas, approached through the lens of an artist rather than a spiritual practitioner. He uses the voice as an instrument of expression, inquiry, and emotional depth. Jonas’s music blends ritualistic inspiration with contemporary production to create immersive, human-centered sound worlds. His creative focus is on exploring how story, sound, and transformation meet.

Jonas has collaborated with internationally renowned projects such as Heilung and contributed to the film The Northman, bringing deep experience in traditional Nordic vocal expression and ritual sound practices. His work bridges ancient voice traditions with contemporary performance, grounding his teaching in lived artistic practice.

About Phenia

Phenia is a birth keeper, herbalist, and works with natural cycles, embodiment, and the deeper rhythms of life, focusing on connection to the earth, the body, and ancestral wisdom.

Her offerings bring people together around fire, voice, and presence, inviting participants to open their voices, connect with community, and explore the intersection of myth, nature, and lived experience.

Phenia’s work is rooted in ritual, storytelling, and the alchemy of intuitive practice, guiding people into embodied awareness and meaningful connection with the unseen world and natural cycles.

About Koen

Koen is with us during the retreats, mostly in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly. He prepares meals, helps with practical tasks, cleans up, and takes photos along the way. His presence creates a feeling of safety and ease in the space.

Outside the retreat, Koen is a classical jiu-jitsu teacher and offers self-defence courses for women. He brings the same grounded, respectful approach into the retreat setting, supporting both the practical flow of the days and the people within it.

Seva during
this retreat:

This spot is not taken yet. Feel called to contribute? We take applications.

Seva spot

Seva comes from the Sanskrit root sev, meaning “to serve.” In yogic tradition, seva is selfless service given without expecting anything in return. It is part of Karma Yoga, the yoga of action, where everyday tasks become a living practice of awareness, humility, and care for others.

At each retreat, there is one Seva-spot. This place is for someone who feels called to contribute a small part of their time in service to the group. That person can join the retreat for a strongly reduced price.

Do you feel called to take the Seva-spot on this or another retreat? Please take contact with me! We are looking mostly for photo&video skills and help in the kitchen.

FAQ

What's a ceremony?

"Ceremony brings the sacred into ordinary life. We navigate change and welcome new cycles. Performing ceremonies creates a bridge between the material world and the world of the unseen."

We will perform an accessible series of actions and mindfulness, but we will give great metaphorical meaning to these by performing them in a sacred circle. We will create a save container for ourselves and each other. By doing so we open ourselves up to acknowledge the reflextion of nature's cycles in ourself.

What language will be spoken?

The retreat will be held in English,

but we have Norwegian, Danish and Dutch available between us :).

What kind of food will we be eating?

Because of the nature and intention of the retreat,

will be be eating healthy vegetarian and vegan food.

We happily adjust to any food restrictions or allergies you might have. make sure to let us know!

What if I have never done yoga before?

Even though the classes have special intentions. they are suitable for beginners.

As long as you keep an open mind and listen you your body, you will do just fine.
